Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing
Picture the scene: the forests and meadows have been coated with a layer of fresh snow. The sun is shining in the baby blue sky. It's the perfect time to strap on your snowshoes and make yeti-like tracks in the powdery white stuff.
Your snowshoes will help you make great progress through the snow. Numerous trails beckon on the slopes of TITLIS.

Walk the short stretch along the road from the Gerschnialp station to Restaurant Ritz and the start of the Gerschnialp-Untertrübsee Trail. This route takes you through the magical snow-covered Gerschniwald forest. On reaching Schlegi, you then make your way over open terrain along the foot of Bitzistock. At Schlegi you can make a bigger loop, if you wish, by walking across the large meadow towards Untertrübsee. The circular trail ends at Restaurant Ritz. Walking time for the full trail: approx. 2 hours 15 mins.

The Obertrübsee Trail begins at the middle station at 1,800 metres above sea level. This trail takes you over hilly terrain to Obertrübsee. From here you then make your way back to Trübsee Alpine Lodge. Walking time: approx. 1 hour. Alternatively, you can take the Älplerseil cable car down to Untertrübsee and hike along the foot of Bitzistock to the Gerschnialp station. This route takes an extra hour.

The Trübsee snowshoe trail weaves its way across secluded, undulating terrain alongside the wildlife reserve at Trübsee. Out of respect for the animals, please remain on the marked trail at all times. The highest point of the tour is Bitzistock with fantastic views down into the Engelberg valley. The trail is just under 3 km long and takes 1.5 hours to complete.
The starting point is the Älplerseil Untertrübsee-Obertrübsee cable car station or the winter walking trail around Trübsee.

Many other snowshoeing trails are waiting for you down in the valley.
