The first step for the team is to fold the fresh towels and bed linens for the rooms. Each type of towel is folded using a special technique to ensure a neat and appealing appearance. Meanwhile, the head of housekeeping retrieves a list from the front desk that shows the arriving and departing guests. This list is carefully reviewed to ensure that all information is correct.
Each employee receives an individual list of the rooms that need to be cleaned that day. Each person is responsible for a specific floor, and if someone finishes early, they are assigned to help with a colleague's rooms.
Around 8 AM, the housekeeping team begins its rounds through the hotel. In the rooms where guests are still staying, the cleaning staff focuses on the essentials: the bathroom is thoroughly cleaned, the beds are made, and the floors are vacuumed. In the rooms where guests are checking out, a more comprehensive cleaning is required: dusting, vacuuming, changing the linens, and completely cleaning the bathroom are all performed.
Each housekeeper cleans between 15 and 25 rooms daily. Especially in the summer, the workload is high, as many travel groups stay only for one night, meaning that numerous rooms must be completely prepared each day. In contrast, during the winter, there are more individual guests who typically stay for a week at the hotel, which reduces the workload somewhat.
However, after cleaning, the workday is far from over. The employees support each other with the last tasks of the day and prepare the laundry for the next day. The laundry team takes care of washing, drying, and folding the fresh bed linens and towels, ensuring that everything is ready in time for the next morning. Additionally, housekeeping ensures that the cleaning supply rooms are always well stocked. Cleaning products, vacuum bags, and other necessary supplies must be regularly replenished to ensure smooth operations.
At 4:30 PM, the workday in housekeeping comes to an end. Tired but satisfied, the employees leave the hotel, well aware that they will have to wake up early again the next day to ensure cleanliness and comfort. Their work may be demanding, but it is also incredibly fulfilling—because a clean and tidy room plays a crucial role in making guests feel comfortable and enjoy their stay.
