It's early morning in Engelberg. The first rays of sunshine glide over the snow-covered mountain slopes, and as the lifts slowly start up, a special kind of winter tranquility descends on the village.
Most people are drawn straight to the slopes – understandably so. But the area around TITLIS has much more to offer. Enjoyment, tranquility, and a wide range of activities that promise both relaxation and fun.
Imagine taking your first steps in fresh snow, hearing it crunch under your shoes and feeling the clear winter air invigorate your spirit. That's exactly how it feels to discover winter in the TITLIS area on foot.

Hike through the Gerschniwald forest – from Engelberg to Gerschnialp
You start right in the village and hike leisurely via Bänklialp up through the Gerschniwald forest – a quiet, almost fairytale-like place. After about 50 minutes the forest opens up and reveals the Gerschnialp plateau: white, vast, and peaceful.
Inside the restaurant Ritz, a hot chocolate or a tasty fondue awaits you. And suddenly it becomes clear: this is exactly why you are here today.
Refreshed, you can continue hiking via Gerschnialp to Untertrübsee. But you can just as easily take the path through the forest back to the funicular, which will take you back down to the valley.
Around Lake Truebsee – a winter wonderland in white and blue
In winter, Lake Truebsee lies still and covered in snow – a vast, white, frozen expanse nestled in breathtaking mountain scenery. You set off at a leisurely pace, with the lake always by your side. Halfway there, you reach the Alpstubli – a place that invites you to take a delightful break with its down-to-earth cuisine.
If you feel like it, you can walk to the Älplerseil, where a small gondola takes you over the snow-covered steep slope down to Untertrübsee. Once you reach the bottom, you can continue on to the Ritz restaurant or back to the funicular on Gerschnialp – every path is a piece of winter bliss.

When the snow is deep and the landscape appears untouched, there is hardly anything more meditative than snowshoeing. Two trails invite you to consciously experience the quiet side of winter.
At first, all you hear is your breathing and the gliding of your skis. Then everything becomes one: the movement, the landscape, the tranquility.

The cross-country ski trail on the Gerschnialp is varied - sometimes gentle, sometimes challenging, but always in the heart of the winter wonderland. It doesn't matter whether you are an ambitious skier or simply want to glide leisurely across the wide expanse and through the winter forest. Here, you decide for yourself at what pace you want to ski.
Winter should simply be fun! Even without technology and expensive equipment – because we'll even lend you a sled. The 3.5-kilometer-long sled run from Gerschnialp to Engelberg is pure pleasure: wind in your face, laughter in your belly, and the feeling of being ten years old again.
The funicular railway will take you back to Gerschnialp as often as you like. And when your energy starts to flag, simply hop on the Titlis Xpress, which will take you to the Alpine Logde Truebsee. Once you arrive at Truebsee, you'll be spoiled for choice: Alpine fusion cuisine at the new Atelier Hess, Italian classics at LagoTorbido, or a simple visit to the self-service restaurant. Whatever you decide, the majestic mountain backdrop is always included.

In addition to classic skiing, TITLIS offers a wealth of winter experiences that will delight you away from the slopes. Hiking through snow-covered forests, snowshoeing on quiet trails, cross-country skiing at your own pace or exuberant sledding - each activity opens up new perspectives on the winter mountain world. Cozy breaks with warm cocoa or hearty specialties invite you to take a deep breath. Here, winter is not only experienced, but felt intensely – the clear air, the crunch of snow underfoot, and the sparkling sunshine on the peaks. At TITLIS, adventure, enjoyment, and tranquility merge into a winter experience that will remain in your memory.
